The Sun City Bell Branch Library has 8 active volunteers who assist mostly with shelving, but sometimes do other tasks such as organizing materials and prepping crafts.
Volunteers generally contribute 2 hours per week. Volunteers are motivated by a mix of reasons, such as making an impact and giving back to their community, staying active after retirement, gaining experience for future careers, or simply the love of being in a library setting and helping others discover the joy of reading.

MEMORY CARE KITS
The kits are thoughtfully curated to support individuals experiencing memory loss and their caregivers. Each kit includes a variety of tactile items, memory books, and engaging activities like puzzles, all designed to invite connection and stimulate cognitive function. Volunteers have played a vital role - not only assembling the sensory books onsite but also generously taking materials home to work on. Their support has been invaluable and significantly accelerated the process.

“Libraries were some of the first places I felt a true sense of belonging. What drew me to librarianship was the opportunity to promote literacy, support lifelong learning, and ensure equitable access to knowledge.
“Librarianship combines service, education, and community building, all values that align deeply with my own.
“I’m also a mom with two incredible human children and two fur babies who keep life busy and full of joy.”
